GREEK barbecue

The attire :

Men who would like to dress typically Greek, dress up with a vraka (pants), fanella (under vest) and poukamiso (shirt which sometimes is too long but most of the times is too short). Also women choose a vraka, a poukamiso, an antaria or a sayia (a dress, mostly made of an expensive brocaded material) and a sigouni (hand-woven coat).

The music :

The Greek music Zorba is obviously known everywhere! Less known, but still very Greek are the following music styles: Rebetika, Laika, Nisiotika, Dimotika, Tsiftetelia, Zeibekika, Pontiaka and the  Byzantine music.

The decor:

Take Greece home with white walls with blue tones, mosaics, small Greek idols and terracotta pots.

Typical food and drinks :

Typical Greek are the mezzes: dishes with the many Greek specialities. So you can have grilled meat (like Souvlaki-skewers), lagoustines and squids combined with Tzatziki (Yogurt sauce with cucumber and chive), Tvropitakia (cheese wrapped in puff pastry), and Greek pasta and vegetables. In your salads you will mix cheeses like feta, kasseri, graviera or manouri. Gyros is a known Greek dish too. The national drinks are ouzo (liqueur with anise flavour) and metaxa (a kind of brandy).
